The International E. M. Forster Society is strongly opposed to the Stevenage Borough Council’s car park plan. The beautiful countryside that nurtured Forster’s imagination and made him write the world-famous masterpiece Howards End has highest value as a cultural heritage. It is recognised as a “sanctuary” by researchers and Forster fans around the world, and the decision to preserve it as it is today would be appreciated both inside and outside of the UK.
